There are countless videos on how to make countless things on the wonderful Tube of You… So if you are wanting to learn something, anything- youtube it.

Here is my favorite how-to on home-made flax crackers.  From this demo you can learn how to make your own flavored crackers and add your own spice combinations.  I personally find putting onions in my crackers makes a strong cracker taste which I don’t like.  I leave out the onion and just put fresh onions on top of the cracker when making a sandwich.

You do need a dehydrator for this.  And I highly recommend one, along with a slow cooker- for all sorts of healthy food preparations.



Why flax?

Although flaxseed contains all sorts of healthy components, it owes its primary healthy reputation to three of them:

  • Omega-3 essential fatty acids, “good” fats that have been shown to have heart-healthy effects. Each tablespoon of ground flaxseed contains about 1.8 grams of plant omega-3s.
  • Lignans, which have both plant estrogen and antioxidantqualities. Flaxseed contains 75 to 800 times more lignans than other plant foods.
  • Fiber. Flaxseed contains both the soluble and insoluble types.
